Patriarch Estephan Douaihy

We have not as yet seen any report from the Vatican concerning the formal announcement that Patriarch Estephan Douaihy was declared Venerable by Pope Benedict XVI.

During the visit on 23th June to Ehden by Cardinal José Saraiva Martins, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, it seemed to have been understood that such an occurrence would take place on 30th June 2008.

On Wenesday, 2nd July 2008, the Pope travels to his summer residence at Castelgandolfo before departing on 12th July to Australia to take part in the 23rd World Youth Day in Sydney. Later this week the Maronite Patriarch, Patriarch Mar Nasrallah Boutros Cardinal Sfeir, travels to Australia, where he will be attending, Maronite 08, as part of World Youth Day 2008 (WYD08) in Sydney. The Patriarch will officiate at an outdoor Mass at the Parramatta Stadium on Sunday 13th July 2008. Those accompanying the Patriarch include, Bishop Samir Mazloum, Vicar General Patriarchal of Zgharta.
